Norman Ault was born in December 17 1880. Ault was a book illustrator and writer, now known best as a compiler of anthologies.

Ault wrote children’s literature with his wife Lena, who died in 1904. He was noted as a scholar of English poetry of the seventeenth century, and also of Alexander Pope.
