Atmospheric view from the River Nile of the Temple and ancient remains at Luxor in Upper (southern) Egypt. The boats in picture were probably the ones that carried David Roberts and his team along the Nile.
Luxor was the ancient city of Thebes, the great capital of Egypt during the New Kingdom, and the glorious city of the god Amon-Ra.
Published in the monumental folio edition of ‘Egypt & Nubia: from drawings made on the spot’ by David Roberts (1796 – 1864), lithographed by Louis Haghe.
