Fritz Erler was a German painter, graphic designer and scenic designer. Although most talented as an interior designer, he was perhaps best remembered for several propaganda posters he produced during World War I.
Fritz Erler was born in Frankenstein in 1868. He studies at the Breslau Art School where he was educated by Albrecht Bräuer from 1886-90. He then had a brief stay in Berlin, Munich and Paris. In 1896 Erler became the co-founder of the magazine ‘Jugend’ and in 1899 became a founding member of the artists’ association ‘Die Scholle’.
