We catch this wealthy lady as she is just putting on one of her gloves. It is a lovely way to depict her and really captures the era.
Hale was a painter of portraits and landscapes, born at Farnham, Surrey. He studied at Farnham School of Art, then went to South Kensington Schools and Westminster School of Art under Fred Brown. His studies continued in Holland, where he concentrated on nineteenth-century Dutch art, and he also studied landscape painting with George Boyle. He was for many years head of Blackheath School of Art.
He exhibited at The Royal Academy, The Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Paris Salon, provincial galleries and in Canada.
Spent most of his life at Farnham, Surrey.
