Portrait of a Woman in Thought

Oil on canvas
Image size: 16 x 20 inches (40.5 x 51 cm)

This portrait is painted in an impressionist palette and is likely to have been created by Caroline Hutchinson circa 1955. It depicts a lady sat in a chair wearing a bright coloured blouse and smart metallic earrings. She seems to be at ease in this domestic interior as she delicately rests her face on one of her hands.

Caroline Hutchinson was from the North East. She was a member of the Sunderland Art Club and painted views of the area, portraits and still lifes. She painted and exhibited circa. 1950s in oils and watercolour.
