Ethelbert White is probably best known for his wood engravings but was also a watercolourist and oil painter. He was essentially a landscape and pastoral artist. His early work is very tight but he became more of an impressionist later in his career. He came from a wealthy background and had no need to sell his work. He exhibited at the RWS and the Royal Academy and was represented by the Redfern Gallery and the Fine Art society.
