William Merrett Hodges was born in Birmingham and spent much of his life there.  He was a Royal Academician, and also a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.  Hodges’ profession was  photography and he owned a shop on Bearwood High Street, Smethwick, Birmingham.
