In this lithograph which is full of sun-light and shadow, colours and muted tones, Roberts looks west from a high viewpoint. To his left is the northern wall of the Temple Mount which is crowned by the Bab al-asbat minaret, while below is its reservoir which at one time was erroneously called 'the pool of Bethesda', the site of Christ’s miracle, recorded in St John 5: 2-9, when he heeled a lame man. The other towers visible, from left to right, are certainly the Ghawanima Minaret and possibly the Mu’azzamiyya Minaret, a structure that no longer exists.
