This rare original artwork was used as the book cover for Hugh E. Page’s ‘Rambles in the Wye Valley’ (1951). The Wye Valley is an area of outstanding natural beauty straddling the border between England and Wales. The internationally important protected landscape covers parts of the counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Monmouthshire and is particularly recognised for its limestone gorge scenery and dense native woodlands.

Page’s ‘Rambles in the Wye Valley’ documented and described in detail over 300 miles of rambling and walking tours in the Wye, Usk Valleys and the Forest of Dean. As part of his travel guide collection Page also published ‘Rambles in Shakespeare Land and the Cotswolds’‘Rambles in South Devon’, ‘Rambles and Walking Tours in Somerset’ and ‘Rambles in the Chiltern Country’.
