This painting hearkens back to London's industrial heritage of the early and mid 20th century. The blocky brown and grey docks contrast with the bright sky and Thames. Two large steamships feature in the background, whilst figures and cranes bustle around them in acts of repairing and loading the ships. This work is a wonderful representation of London's not-so-distant past, and is an aesthetic melody for the eyes, with its contrasting colours and bustle of activity.
