Mary A Brooks
Mary A Brooks was a notable contributor to a vast array of children's publications from the early 1940s to the late 1980s. Brooks was the illustrator of Enid Blyton's Noddy Gets in Trouble (1954) and Noddy Meets Father Christmas (1955). She wrote and illustrated many books for nursery-age children in the 1960s ranging from early learning titles to illustrated animal books, books of rhymes and fairy stories. This work was charming and highly detailed.
Her work also appeared in a number of books published by Purnell (1978-80) and Dean (1986-87).
Brooks married Laurence William Penn in 1947 and continued to paint into her late eighties.
